Memory of Samuel J. Bush, Black man lynched by mob, honored by family, activists

I wrote this article detailing the work of activists and the city of Decatur, Illinois, honoring the life of Samuel J. Bush. Bush, a 30-year-old Black man from Mississippi, was tragically lynched by a mob over 130 years ago in the town of Mount Zion, Illinois. With the help of local organizations like Walk It Like We Talk It and Affordable Activism, his great nephew Vernon Wimberly is helping bring his story to light.

Mercyhurst University student whose unattended wheelchair was pushed down stairs hopes incident can bring change

I wrote this story about an incident at a local college bar involving the son of a former NHL player and current General Manager of the Philadelphia Flyers, who pushed a girl's unattended wheelchair down a flight of stairs in a viral video. Sydney Bynes, the victim of the incident, wants to use her situation to promote change and advocate for others in her situation.
